Official description
Description
Home energy labelling involves disclosing a home’s energy performance rating so that prospective buyers can understand the energy consumption, similar to EnerGuide labels used for appliances like washers and dryers. This information can help home buyers consider the energy and carbon performance of homes in their decision-making process.
In the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030, the Province of BC committed to introducing a virtual home-energy rating tool to raise public awareness and encourage retrofits that save energy and reduce emissions. As the City considers its approach to home energy labeling, staff will closely follow the development of the provincial program to ensure alignment.
