Description
A circular economy retains the value of products well beyond their initial use through intentional design, reuse, and repair. Unlike the traditional linear "take-make-toss" model, a circular economy focuses on designing out waste and keeping materials in use for as long as possible. This approach reduces embodied emissions from material extraction and minimizes the environmental impacts associated with waste management. Additionally, transitioning to a circular economy fosters innovation, creates new revenue opportunities, and supports job growth.
This action will task City staff with reviewing repair and reuse initiatives to advance circular economy principles and practices in collaboration with Metro Vancouver.
