Official description
Description
Climate impacts are inherently unjust, disproportionately affecting those who have contributed the least to the problem—such as low-income individuals—while limiting their capacity to adapt. Climate equity aims to ensure a fair distribution of climate action benefits and to alleviate the unequal burdens caused by climate change. The CCAS seeks to integrate equity considerations by addressing diverse needs, fostering thoughtful engagement, and prioritizing solutions that support equity-seeking groups and vulnerable individuals.
As part of this commitment, the City will undertake equity-informed engagement to provide equity-seeking groups and vulnerable individuals with meaningful opportunities to shape the development of climate-related policies and programs. This approach will help ensure that climate actions are inclusive, effective, and reflective of the diverse voices within the community.
