Official description

Prepare a climate and energy transition plan to identify, prioritize and implement opportunities to improve energy efficiency and phase out fossil fuel combustion across all City facilities, aligned with meeting corporate GHG reduction targets
(Full action name in the CCAS)

Description

The Climate and Energy Facilities Transition Plan represents a critical step in reducing the City's corporate greenhouse gas emissions. The action aims to systematically identify, prioritize and implement opportunities that enhance energy efficiency while concurrently phasing out fossil fuel use across all civic facilities. The Plan will provide a retrofit strategy aligned with 2030 and 2040 emission reduction targets, in addition to a comprehensive financial analysis to determine the costs associated with implementing retrofits and updating energy management practices. The evaluation of current facility conditions will serve as the foundation for developing a plan that is aligned with the predetermined end-of-life replacement schedules for existing equipment. Once complete, the Plan will serve as a roadmap for converting all civic facilities into zero-carbon buildings.

RFP for the study is being developed and external funding sources are being secured.
