Official description

Implement transit priority measures along high priority corridors using a data- driven approach
(Full action name in the CCAS)

Description

Transit service in Surrey, and across the Metro Vancouver region, is provided by TransLink. However, Surrey can support and encourage more people to take transit by investing in transit supportive improvements such as transit priority measures.

Transit priority measures are specific actions or infrastructure used to reduce delays for buses on congested roadways. These actions include various treatments that range from signage and traffic signal prioritization to the addition or reallocation of lanes that are dedicated to buses. Increasing the speed and reliability of transit makes it more attractive to users as travel times are more predictable and in some cases faster than driving private vehicles.
