Official description
Description
Surrey City Energy is a City-owned district energy system that supplies high-density residential, commercial, and institutional buildings in City Centre with heat and hot water. District energy systems offer many benefits to traditional heating and hot water systems, including:
- reduced greenhouse gas emissions;
- reduced energy consumption; and
- lower capital, operations and maintenance costs.
Surrey City Energy's rate structure compares favourably to other district energy systems and energy providers of both electricity and gas boiler systems. For this action, the City will establish separate rate class that will align with new building energy and emissions standards and the City’s climate commitments.
